Lady Rougepen Says: Fall in Love with Cupidity

IMG_4192

Cupidity means an “intense desire for material things, or greed.” Example: The theme of the 1980s was cupidity and hubris.

The root of that word, “Cupid,” is derived from the god of love in Roman mythology (Eros in Greek mythology). The winged god who shot arrows into hearts was god’s Ares and Aphrodite’s son. He used to be portrayed as an Adonis type with 6-pack abs, but the prim Victorians gave him a makeover, as a cuddly, baby.
